Reading Rewards Projects
First Reading Rewards Projects Due by October 31
Students who are planning to complete independent reading projects for the first nine weeks need to have them completed and turned in to me by October 31. In order to receive the reward, students must have completed 15 points worth of projects from the reading projects choice board. The reward for earning 15 reading rewards points this nine-weeks is that students will not have to do any homework in any of their classes for the week of November 5-9.
Reading Rewards Project Choices
In sixth grade, instead of earning points through AR, you will be earning reading rewards points by reading books and completing various projects worth points. The benefit to this method is that you may read anything that interests you... it doesn't have to be an "AR book", it can be a magazine, a newspaper, a cookbook, an instruction manual, or any other reading material that interests you!
This is how it will work… you must earn 15 reading rewards points per six weeks in order to receive a reading reward for that six weeks period. Projects on the choice boards are organized by points. You simply choose the project or projects you’d like to complete, complete them, and you receive the points. Some projects require a presentation to the class while others are simply completed and turned in (you will understand which is which when you read the project choice boards below). Also, know that you can still complete projects before you are finished reading a book-- just complete the project for the portion of the book you have read. Those of you who are reading longer length books may certainly complete more than one project on a particular book.
If you have an idea for a project that is not listed on the Reading Choice Board, come see me and tell me your idea. Chances are I will approve your project idea!
Reading Rewards for each nine weeks period should be completed by the following dates in order to receive the reward:
